Higher Plane Experimentation - The Beginning

Digital art of Sanae Hanekoma from The World Ends With You standing in Shibuya's Scramble Crossing. The man it glitching out and is surrounded by glowing human beings. Some have Reaper wings and some do not.
Digital Art of Sanae Hanekoma from The World Ends With You wearing a shiny white dress shirt and labcoat with cloud like wings. Light comes down from above, almost looking like it's coming from above a water's surface, as if he's underwater.
Digital art of Sanae Hanekoma from The World Ends With You drawn in a warm and fiery coloured style. His wings have soft and undefined edges and his long coat breaks off into falling pieces.

Notes

Experimenting with Higher Plane colours and visual effects. Colour scheme choices and other HP thoughts below.

Details

I’m planning to use anything HP related for playing around with styles and designs and I want to experiment with, all which is probably the opposite direction of we’ll maybe get one day. Mainly this is using stronger contrasts with light and shadow and leaning into the more formal and scientific tone of the secret reports.

I wanted red tinged shadows for whatever colour scheme I settled on which seems to be autumn or amber. I chose darker tones to contrast with the imagery of “Angels”, “Ascending”, “Higher Plane”, etc.. Maybe it was once bright and vibrant but over time it slowly shifted to something darker and dimmer. Without planning it, this reminds me the dim Room of Reckoning and I wonder if shifts similarly based on the UG/Composer…or if it’s also strongly connected to the HP.

In addition to the colour scheme, the edges of perception are darker/less defined. I like the style on it’s own but with TWEWY’s style it’s another variation of the streaky borders. I’ve played around a bit before with using TWEWY borders as a way to show separation of planes/perception and I might start leaning into it more.

Clothing/accessory wise I wanted change Hanekoma’s sunglasses to glasses and shift his clothes into something lab coat or formal like. And maybe do something with his watch. But he’ll keep his sandals. Those are non-negotiable.

“Location” wise I was hung up on them living “above” and separated from the UG and RG. Something foreign, formless and/or loosely defined. But for now…why not just toss them on the same “level” as the RG and UG? They can have their own HP only locations and spaces but for part of it…I’m just going to layer it right on top.
